Gluten free…..but still eating cake
My name is Lainey. I have been gluten free since I was 10 years old. My doctor recommended that I stop eating foods that contained gluten. This wasn’t a big shock because my mom has celiac disease. He said that I should try to follow the diet, but that I could cheat and have a little sometimes, like at a friend’s birthday party. I felt so much better that I didn’t want to cheat. My mom was amazed. Even when I sold Girl Scout cookies, I didn’t sneak a Thin Mint.
At first, I thought it was hard to find gluten free foods that I enjoyed as much as when I was on a regular diet. Then I started finding gluten free recipes and cooking desserts. I also found some favorite items at the grocery store and I learned to navigate ordering at restaurants.
I have created this blog to share everything I know about being gluten free. If you are new to being gluten free, I hope I can save you time and money and direct you to some great choices. If you are a mom of a child who is gluten free, I hope I can help you with breakfast, lunch, dinner, and (of course) dessert ideas that the whole family can enjoy.
